Alice opens her eyes and finds herself in an
inverted room.

She gets to her feet and looks around at her
surroundings.

Establish the upside down dining room and its
contents.

She calls out to see if anyone is around.

She tries to reach up toward the dining table
above but it was just out of her reach.

She makes her way to the back door of the house
and opens the door and peers outside

·
A short bulky old man of around sixty walks
slowly through the well lit corridor of the hospital ward. He had a slight limp
on one leg.

Establish the man and show visually that he is
conflicted in his mind.
·
He finally reaches the doorway of the room.
Sc3
·
Alice tries to touch the grass that grew on the
ground above. It too was just out of reach.
·
A crow flew by from the rooftop beneath her,
startling her. She quickly pulls herself back inside and shuts the door behind
her. The room has changed
·
Establish the study room.
·
Alice tries to reach for a photo frame on her
study table but it was just out of reach.
·
She goes to the door at the other end of the
room and opens it.
·
Establish the stair well where a bizarre number
of stairways began ended and intersected.
·
A glimmer of light appears on the opposite wall
and darts here and there across the wall.
·
“Is there anyone down there!” she calls out and quickly
runs down the topsy-turvy staircase.
·
She can hear voices coming from the floor
beneath. Voices quarreling. Then she hears a door shut.

She reaches the room at the base of the stairs.
·
Establish the room.

Alice walks
in looks around and realizes where she is.
·
She looks up and sees her dead mother in her
funeral casket.
·
Alice reaches out to touch mother’s pale
lifeless face but it was just out of reach.
·
Her eyes begin to water and she runs out of the
room.
·
The tears that fell from her eye sparkle in the
low candle light as they float down.
Sc 4
·
The bulky man stands by the door of the hospital
room unsure as to whether he should enter or not.
·
Establish the hospital room.
·
“Good evening Mr. McMahon.” the doctor addressed
the man and asks him to be seated.
·
The man sits by Alice’s bedside.
·
Establish Alice’s condition
·
Reveal the fathers’ pain
·
The man breaks down and begins to sob into his
daughters’ hand.
Sc 5
·
Establish Alice sitting alone and crying in a
large empty room.
·
She tries to paint, but gives up.
·
Her shadow slowly sits up beside her and tries
to comfort her.
·
Alice falls in love with the shadow and they
make love. Fade out.
·
Alice wakes up to find herself lying alone on
the floor with a sheet wrapped around her naked body.
·
She is upset as she knows he won’t come back
·
She sees the tiny dancing light on the floor and
follows it and reaches the wooden door leading out of the room.
Sc6
·
Alice enters the Hall of Mirrors. Establish the
Hall.
·
The mirror reflections do not have faces.
·
She wears a mask lying on the floor and checks
herself.
·
When a mask latches on to her she tries to break
free and run.
·
The hall collapses and she plunges into dark
waters.
Sc7
·
The cardiogram rings an offbeat.
·
The old man lifts his head up and realizes
something is wrong.
·
Alice has a cardiac arrest.
·
The cardiogram flat lines.
Sc8
·
Her body bleeds and sinks. She feels her life
ebb away.
·
Suddenly there is a small glint of light just
above her, and she knows what to do.
·
With all her might she paddles against the
current and breaks the water surface.
·
A hand grabs hers.
·
There is light everywhere.
- Alice opened her eyes.
- She sees her father beside her bed.
- “Daddy!” her eyes well up as she smiles weakly at him.
- The light reflected from the man’s watch dances on her face.
